Sundays

Today is Sunday and we are just relaxing here at home. I haven't posted anything for awhile but I've been finishing up the Spring semester in school. With that done, I've been knitting and doing other things I haven't had time for like reading something other than textbooks. I knitted my very first fair isle hat today and it turned out pretty good! I'll have to post a pic soon. Well, I'll try to keep up with my blog during the summer but I am tackling 6 classes during the Summer semester. Talk to you soon!

Saturday, March 20, 2010

Today is Saturday and we are having Marche's 13th birthday party. It is going to be a busy day. Also, I am starting a new knitting project and I am loving it! It is a set of mittens that match an alpaca wool hat that I made earlier this year. I will post pics when it is complete. I probably won't be able to work on them for a couple of days, gotta do homework this weekend too, yuck. See ya again soon!

The Day After

Today is Sunday and last night we had my sister's bridal shower at my house. Wow, I still can't believe I fit 32 people in my house. It was soooo packed! We had fun, though. She got some really fun and nice things too, so much that it wouldn't fit in her trunk!

Now, for today's activities. I plan on hanging out with my husband, watching a movie or two, and probably doing some fun knitting. I am making some dishcloths for my sister and my daughter, who is getting married in June. I'll see y'all later!

Back to work

Today is Thursday and I am going back to work today. Alaska will be on her own at the house today, well, her sister, Marche will be here. I am working a half day and then going to school until 8:30. I am finally feeling pretty good, not much of a cough, not much congestion. I still couldn't run a marathon if I tried, I get worn out quickly. Wow, I haven't been this sick in a long time. So, off to work I go!

Baby alpaca gold cable hat

I am posting pics of the beautiful gold cable hat I made last week. I love this hat because of its softness. I used baby alpaca yarn by plymouth yarn company and I have to say, I am addicted to their yarn. It is so soft and stretchy. I used a pattern supplied by them but I altered it from the original pattern. It originally had earflaps and was smaller. I did away with the earflaps and added two more cables around to make it bigger and one more in length to make it taller. I have posted pics for you. One while I was knitting it and one of the finished product. The coloring looks different in both pics due to lighting, sorry about this.

Slouch hat details

Today is Wednesday and I have taken the day off to be here with Alaska. She is having more pain from her tonsillectomy today than she did yesterday. Poor girl. While I am home, I will be doing homework, laundry, house-cleaning, and if time permits, knitting! I finished my first slouch hat the other day but it wasn't slouching! I looked online and realized my instructions did not include what to do with a slouch hat AFTER knitting it. You have to get it wet and then put it on a dinner plate to dry. I did that last night and when I checked it this morning, it was perfect! The plate process not only allows for the right shape, it also lets the lace pattern (if you have one) to spread out and look lacy! I was so excited! I have posted pics of the finished product.

Well, today is Tuesday and I'm finally feeling better. The pneumonia is hangin' on but not so bad anymore. Alaska had her tonsils out yesterday and is actually doing well today. Her pain level is not too high but her poor uvula is so swollen! They took out her adenoids too and we are celebrating here at my house! No more snoring!!! I also finished my first knitted slouch hat while I was sick over the weekend. It is blocking on a plate as we speak. We will see if it looks right in just a bit. I am searching the internet for another slouchy hat to try that is a little easier than the one I just finished, that one was very detailed. Anyway, I'll post some pics of my hats when I get a chance. Also, I have the cute flowered headbands that everyone is wearing, I finally found a knitted pattern for those! See you all soon!

Sunday, March 7, 2010

Today is Sunday and I'm feeling a little better. I'm not so tired and I don't feel as foggy. I'm still having a hard time going up and down the stairs without feeling winded but better than yesterday. I'm going to take it easy today because I have to work tomorrow and my daughter, Alaska, is having her tonsils taken out at noon. It is going to be a hectic week with the surgery, and homework, and I'm having my sister's bridal shower at my house this coming weekend. Anyway, I'm still going to find time to knit. I'm working on my first slouch hat for my husband's daughter. It is a lot more detailed than I am use to doing but it is a good challenge. See you soon!

Saturday, March 6, 2010

Today is Saturday and I was supposed to be at work but it just didn't happen. You see, I was diagnosed with pneumonia on Thursday and I am still suffering. I have slept so much in the last 2 days and it is amazing that I am still so tired. I am trying to stay awake for a little while so I don't miss out on too much of my family. I wish I could knit but I am just too weak. Maybe tonight, after I have rested a bit, I will be able to hold my knitting needles, but for now, back to bed.

Sick at home

Well, today I came home early from work due to sickness, took a 2 1/2 hour nap, and now I'm gonna knit! I am working on a gold cable hat in baby alpaca wool by the plymouth yarn company. It is turning out way cute! I'll post a pic so you can see. Also, I will post the pattern for you if you would like. I got the pattern from an earflap hat pattern the plymouth yarn company put out but I changed it to fit my head and took off the earflaps. This is a great pattern for a beginner who would like to learn cable knitting.
